UST Offered Free Fall Tuition to Make this Program Affordable

Dr. Nicole Walters, dean, Kolbe School of Innovation and Professional StudiesAs part of UST’s mission, St. Thomas launched the AAS in Cybersecurity two years ago to help retrain Houston’s workforce during the COVID pandemic when many lost their jobs. In addition, UST offered free fall tuition in 2020 and 2021 for this degree to make it affordable and accessible to all.

“This 100% online cybersecurity program aligns well with our mission of creating a high-quality academic program that is designed to serve the needs of a diverse population in greater Houston and Texas,” Dr. Nicole Walters, dean of the Kolbe School of Innovation and Professional Studies, said. “This two-year degree curriculum has a real-world, student-centric focus."

Internships, Job Shadowing and Success Coaches Available to Students

“Along with earning a degree, students have access to internships, jobs and a success coach,” Walters said. “To that end, our industry partners continue to collaborate with our program to provide internship and job shadowing opportunities as they prepare our students to re-skill, and for some, re-enter this new growing workforce in technology. With this degree, students learn all the skills they need to excel in careers such as an IT professional, cyber security analyst, security architect, among others, among a wider range of industries."
