Alejandra Lopez earns SCAC Elite 19 Award
In an announcement from conference headquarters, University of St. Thomas-Houston athlete Alejandra Lopez was named the 2022 SCAC Women's Tennis Elite 19 award winner.
Lopez, a junior from San Juan, Puerto Rico, currently holds a 3.807 GPA in Business and earned Second Team All-SCAC honors this season. She finished the season with six wins at the No. 1 singles line and helped lead the Celts to the SCAC Tournament semifinals and a program best, fourth-place finish.
Lopez is the third St. Thomas student athlete to earn Elite 19 honors this academic year. She joins Luis Bencomo, who was named the 2021 SCAC Men's Soccer award winner and Mayra Truong who took home the Women's Golf award last month.
Established prior to the 2018-19 academic year and meant to recognize the best of the best within each conference sponsored-sport as it relates to both academic and athletic achievement, the SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student athlete who has completed the equivalent of at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA. The student athlete must also have earned All-SCAC First or Second Team honors in his/her sport for that particular season.
