Announcing Return of Popular Creative Writing Workshop at USTMAX Center

One of the most popular educational opportunities at the USTMAX Center is a Creative Writing Workshop taught by 2011 Texas Poet Laureate Dave Parsons. So, here is some exciting news: The workshop is back! From March 1 through April 26 (no class March 15 for Spring Break), writers and aspiring writers can again learn from a master.

Furthermore, he is represented in a bronze bust in Conroe’s Founders Plaza for starting the Writers in Performance program and the non-profit Montgomery County Literary Arts Council.

A Transformative Experience

Several decades ago, it was a writing workshop that proved to be a transformative experience for the acclaimed poet. Parsons recalled, “When I was a student in a writing workshop 35 years ago, it changed my life.”

Today, the creative writing workshop led by Parsons is often a path to self-actualization.

“All are welcome and will come away renewed and energized, including me,” Parsons said. “Past students have been a wonderful mix of individuals, some exploring the notion of writing and other accomplished writers who are seeking to stretch and grow. I love this workshop.”

Stretch Creatively and Build Confidence

Parson’s past USTMAX students highly recommend his class, calling it a powerful experience that helped them to stretch creatively and build confidence.

“It will be great having Dave back to teach his popular workshop at the Center,” USTMAX Senior Director Dr. Carla E. Alsandor said. “Space is limited, so I am encouraging all who are interested in this workshop to register soon.”
