Blanson Named Interim President of LCS-North Harris

Dr. Archie Blanson, former assistant professor (term-track) and adjunct faculty in the School of Education and Human Services, was recently named Interim President at Lone Star College – North Harris.

After retiring from Aldine ISD in 2018, Blanson accepted a position as Vice Chancellor of Student Success for Lone Star College, overseeing admissions, registration, dual credit, disabilities, enrollment management, and numerous student services activities and partnerships. Five months into this role, he was tapped for the interim president position at LCS-North Harris.

Blanson Served as Aldine ISD Deputy Superintendent

Prior to joining Lone Star College, Blanson devoted 39 years in education to Aldine ISD, finishing his career as deputy superintendent. During his tenure, he worked closely with LSC-North Harris for more than 20 years.

Newest High School Named in his Honor

The success Blanson enjoyed at Aldine ISD is evident through his accomplishments and recognitions. He was named the district’s 2003 Boss of the Year, and in 2018, Aldine ISD recognized Blanson by naming its newest facility, the Dr. Archie L. Blanson Career and Technical Education High School, in his honor.

Teaching at UST is a Rewarding Experience

Blanson, who taught at UST for three years, counts teaching at St. Thomas as “one of the most rewarding experiences that I’ve had as an educator.” While here, he “gained great insight into how the system works and the role of a visionary leader.”
