Celebrate Doherty Library’s Golden Moments: Envision the Doherty Library of the Future

50th Anniversary Doherty LibraryMake plans to celebrate the Doherty Library’s 50th anniversary at a social gathering from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, main lobby of the Doherty Library. Enjoy cake and refreshments and lift your glass for a champagne toast. Welcome Doherty family members whose visionary parents and grandparents, Ada Mary and Robert Pace Doherty, were the benefactors who dedicated the library in 1972 as a bastion of wisdom. The library is a landmark along with the Chapel of St. Basil, dedicated 25 years later, to serve as pillars of the University of St. Thomas-Houston, anchoring opposite ends of the Academic Mall, representing faith and reason.

Where Ideas Grow

Be ready for a WOW MOMENT at the Library Celebration when UST President Richard Ludwick gives a brief overview on what Doherty Library could  look like in the future: a center of learning that is distinctly UST. Futuristic architectural renderings by Design Collaborative will display digitally on several TV monitors.
