Dr. Dom Aquila Launches New Show on Radio Maria

Dr. Dominic AquilaDr. Dominic Aquila, professor of history and Renaissance man, launched his new, live radio program, “Think on These Things,” on Oct. 19. Scheduled to broadcast on the Radio Maria network every Monday at 11 a.m., the show will be heard around the world online.

Show Inspired by St. Paul's Words

On that inaugural show, Aquila talked about how the program was inspired by the words of St. Paul. “In these times of persistent distraction and crude entertainments, St. Paul’s teaching on what things ought to occupy the mind of a Christian is particularly important. ‘Pray always,’ he says. Yes. But what else? In his letter to the Christian community at Philippi, he wrote:

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians, 4:8)

“Think on These Things” is a radio show dedicated to providing its listeners with good things to think about—faithful Catholic education, good books, religious life, lay movements in the Church, the arts, and much, much more.

Topics to be Explored

Aquila, who draws on his past experience as a radio host, loves being back in that seat talking to interesting guests about their areas of expertise. Future topic titles include The Church Fathers, Dominicans in the US, Communion and Liberation, a Catholic Lay Movement and Science and Catholicism.

On Oct. 26, Aquila’s guest will be Dr. George Harne, executive dean of the School of Arts & Sciences. Aquila and Harne will chat about a Catholic liberal arts education at UST and how it is a formation for life and a career.
