Michael KaneDr. Michael F. Kane is the Department Chair of Criminology, Law and Society. Dr. Kane’s career in criminal justice system began as a deputy with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office with his first assignment being at the Detention Center on Atascocita Road. Dr. Kane’s criminal justice career included being an investigator with METRO, and a patrol officer with Rice University. Dr. Kane taught Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement at Coastal Bend College in Beeville, Texas for 25 years.

Dr. Kane’s graduates have obtained employment in the criminal justice system ranging from Special Agents with the FBI to police officers and correctional officers in various federal, state and local agencies. One of Dr. Kane’s graduates received U.S. Top Cop award from President Clinton for his work in capturing a child kidnapper. Truly, Dr. Kane’s graduates account for his greatest professional accomplishments.

Dr. Kane has been married to his wonderful wife Carolyn for 42 years and they have three adult children, Andrew, Alex and Marianne. Carolyn, Marianne and Dr. Kane have lived in Pearland since 2012. They are members of St. Helen’s Catholic Church.
