Happy 10th Anniversary to Two Saints & a Taco Tasting!
Two Saints and a Taco Tasting event moves to campus for the first time since its inception.
UST’s Two Saints & a Taco Tasting event turns 10 and moves to campus this year! This flagship alumni event — scheduled to be in-person and virtual on Friday, June 11 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. — raises money for student scholarships.
Two Saints and a Taco Tasting has raised more than $600,000 in support of students since its inception, funding scholarships for more than 100 students.
On this 10th anniversary, the goal is to raise an additional $100,000 for the Alumni Association Annual Scholarship Fund.
The event is moving to campus from Saint Arnold Brewery, to accommodate more people in a safe, socially distanced, outdoor setting (with safety precautions) and will include virtual components. Beer, wine and tacos are the fare for the evening along with entertainment.
A new logo has been created to commemorate the 10th anniversary and even though St. Arnold microbrews will still be served, the Association is pleased to now paying tribute to the “two saints” associated with the University -- Saint Basil and Saint Thomas Aquinas. This year, event chairs are legacy family father and daughter duo John Marion Carrabba ’80 and Jessica Carrabba ’14. The host committee chairs are alumnae Christine Green ’97/, MLA '07, and Molly Reyes, MIB ‘05.
A general admission ticket is $50, a VIP ticket is $100 and a virtual ticket is free. Alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of UST are invited to participate. Tickets go on sale after Easter. For more information, go to www.stthom.edu/twosaints.
The main attraction of the event is a friendly, yet competitive, taco-tasting contest between local restaurants, which support UST by donating, preparing and serving a strategically selected, signature taco while vying for the coveted Judges’ Choice and Peoples’ Choice trophies. Celebrity judges add to the excitement. This year’s judges will include presidents and heads of local Catholic High Schools as well as the president of KSBJ-FM. Additional celebrity judges will be announced at a later date.
Two Saints and a Taco Tasting is a highly anticipated, annual event with a serious mission. “We are looking forward to welcoming Two Saints to campus and know that it will be great fun but we are also very focused on the importance of our fundraising. In addition to the various sponsorship and ticket options, there will be an online silent auction and a unique opportunity to 'raise your beer to students’ by making an additional donation to the scholarship fund during the event. In-person and virtual attendees can participate and every gift will make an immediate and positive difference in the lives of UST students.” Carla E.
