Degrees are 100% Online and 100% in Spanish

Learn how you can earn a 100% online degree in either a Master in Sacred Scriptures (MASE) or a Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology (MATP). Earn these degrees from the comfort of your home and at an affordable price. Both degree programs are offered 100% online and 100% in Spanish. Or, you can choose to take in-person classes. The 36-credit hour programs consist of 12 courses.

These degree programs are offered through the Center Semillero for Hispanic/Latino Theology at University of St. Thomas. If you have a university degree, bachelor’s degree or professional career in any field, be it from the United States or another country, you qualify for this master’s program. They prepare you to serve in a multicultural and diverse society.

“The Spanish-speaking community has been waiting for decades for a program like ours,” Dr. Gerardo Salazar, director of the Center Semillero for Hispanic/Latino Theology, said. “University of St. Thomas Houston is the first Catholic university in the U.S. to offer these degrees in Spanish both in-person and online.

Studying Holy Scripture and Catholic pastoral theology in Spanish at the graduate level in the United States with an online option is truly historic.

Master of Arts in Sacred Scriptures (MASE):

The Master of Arts in Sacred Scriptures is a 36 hours (12 courses), 100% Spanish language, online graduate program that forms and prepares Catholic leaders in the field of Biblical scholarship. The academic formation will offer essential tools for the pastoral work of the graduates as active members of the Catholic Church such as parish ministers, chaplains, educators, students seeking to move to higher studies and learners desiring personal enrichment.

Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology (MATP):

The Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology is a 36-hour (12 courses), 100% Spanish language, online graduate program that educates graduate students in the Tradition of the Church and Magisterium; as well as the intercultural conditions that mark the modern world and affect the Church’s mission. It seeks to serve men and women who are working for or are seeking to work for the Church in various apostolates: such as parish ministers, chaplains, educators, students seeking to move to higher studies, and learners desiring personal enrichment.

USTMAX Center

The University of St. Thomas expanded the reach of its mission and education programs into Montgomery County. The Center offers an array of online programs including associate degrees in technology and cybersecurity, business and alcohol and chemical dependency; certificate programs; and graduate degrees in education, business, theology and more. This micro-campus provides onsite support for UST students and serves as a gathering place for alumni. The Center also serves as a location to engage the community by providing arts and cultural events, information sessions, continuing education opportunities and more.
