Peavy School of Nursing to Offer Minor in Health Services in fall 2023

For baccalaureate degree-seeking students, a five-course minor in Health Services is available from the Peavy School of Nursing (PSON) in fall 2023.

“A minor in Health Services is designed for students whose vocation is not nursing, but want to obtain the knowledge so they can have a healthcare career,” Interim Dean of PSON, Dr. Claudine Dufrene, said. “Students desiring a business degree focusing on healthcare may also expand their knowledge with this minor.”

All students seeking a minor, baccalaureate, or graduate degree from the PSON will focus on holistic nursing, a form of nursing that engages with a patient’s body, mind and spirit to care for the whole person.

Courses include Nursing Pharmacology, Nursing Pathophysiology, Health Assessment, Foundations of Holistic Nursing Practice, and Art & Science of Holistic Nursing.

With a health services minor, a student can search for job opportunities as a medical assistant, health education specialist, community health specialist, medical lab technician, surgical technician and more.
