Ryan Konkright Joins UST as Director of Undergraduate Admissions

Ryan KonkrightRyan Konkright will assume the position of director of Undergraduate Admissions for the University of St. Thomas on Jan. 27, 2020.

Konkright recently served as director of Undergraduate Admission at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio where he led the enrollment efforts for the university’s undergraduate freshman, transfer and international student populations.

“The University of St. Thomas shares many of my personal beliefs regarding Catholic liberal arts higher education, and I am excited to be able to collaborate with all members of the UST community as we continue to build upon the existing momentum in attracting excellent students,” Konkright said. “The energy of campus, spirit of students currently enrolled and vision articulated by President Ludwick are infectious, and I honored to become a member of the Celt Nation!”

Konkright's Background

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry and Master of Arts in Organizational Communication both from St. Mary’s in 2008 and 2015 respectively.

He has held positions of increasing responsibility in enrollment management at St. Mary’s and has extensive experience working in the realms of both domestic and international university admission.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Catholic College Admission Association (NCCAA). He served previously as chair of the San Antonio recruitment week for the Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers (TACRAO) High School Relations Committee. He is an invited presenter at both regional and international conferences. Most notably, he presents at the Texas Association for College Admission Counseling (TACAC) and International Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC) on topics ranging from higher education DACA practices, strategic international enrollment management and minimizing barriers for first generation college students.

While at St. Mary’s, Konkright was instrumental in assisting the university increase its academic profile of entering students, assisted with the transition of the Office of Admission to an electronic admission review process and worked collaboratively to assist in ushering in the universities largest enrolling freshman classes.

The University of St. Thomas is Houston’s Catholic University.
