SCAC Award for Male Athlete of the Week Goes to Andrew Law
Andrew Law, a junior sprinter from Sugar Land, Texas, and representing the University of St. Thomas-Houston on the track team, has been chosen as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week commencing October 19.
The SCAC Character & Community Award celebrates the dedication of student athletes who not only excel in their athletic pursuits but also make meaningful contributions to their campus and the wider community.
When Law isn't dashing past his competitors on the track, you'll find him wholeheartedly involved in both his school and athletic communities. In his leisure time, he dedicates himself to supporting Celt Athletics and Campus Ministry.
Within the realm of athletics, he plays a pivotal role in the sports information office, providing statistical support for a wide range of sports, from baseball to volleyball, and every basketball season in between. There's hardly a game that Law isn't well-acquainted with. His dedication doesn't stop at the games; he also spends time in the office, mentoring and instructing others in the art of statistical analysis, ensuring that his fellow student athletes experience top-tier game days.
Law's commitment extends to the faith-based foundations of St. Thomas. Among his significant contributions, he leads a Bible study on campus, collaborating with both Campus Ministry and Athletics. During their weekly gatherings, he inspires student athletes not only from his own team but from every team on campus to nurture their faith through mutual fellowship. Most recently, Law delivered the opening prayer and blessing at the Student Athlete Development Program kickoff night, an event graced by Bo Porter, the former manager of the Houston Astros.
As a cherished member of the St. Thomas Celt community, Law feels immense gratitude for his place within it. Amid his multitude of activities, he is deeply appreciative of his involvement in significant campus organizations. So, whenever you’re visiting a Celt match or on campus, keep an eye out for Andrew Law!
