US News & World Report’s “Best Colleges” Ranks UST #18 in the West

US News & World Report BadgeUniversity of St. Thomas climbs to #18 in the 2021 edition of the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges” list of universities in the western region of the United States. U.S. News offers college-bound students expert advice, rankings and data to help them navigate their education journey and find the best college for them.

The Best Colleges for Veterans ranking listed UST as #11 among top-ranked schools that participate in federal initiatives helping veterans and active-duty service members to pay and be successful in college. The #5 ranking in best value universities is a two point jump for UST and means that UST provides the highest quality education for a value price.

The social mobility ranking recognizes how well colleges serve low-income students. In 2019, UST launched the Rising Stars Program. The program has grown substantially in 2020. Reflecting a nine-fold increase, more than 40 high school graduates now attend University of St. Thomas’ Rising Stars Program. The program enables participants to finance most of their college tuition while receiving coveted work experience through internship positions.

UST is Known for Personalized Attention, Academic Excellence

Regional universities offer a full range of undergraduate programs and some master’s programs but few doctoral programs. UST offer more than 38 undergraduate degrees and 30 graduate degree programs, including two doctoral programs in philosophy and education.

UST has more than 2,100 undergraduate students. “University of St. Thomas is on the move, welcoming its largest freshman class in University history,” UST President Richard Ludwick said. “UST attracts and retains talented students from around the world who join us for an education that prepares them for a life and career.”

University of St. Thomas is known for its personalized attention with a student-faculty ratio of 12:1. The most popular majors at University of St. Thomas (TX) include: Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; Biological and Biomedical Sciences; Social Sciences; Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities; and Health Professions and Related Programs. The average freshman retention rate, an indicator of student satisfaction, is 83%. In sports, UST is part of the NCAA III.
