Musical Director for Regi Cantorum, Rafael Ramos '23Step into a world of celestial harmonies and profound musical enchantment with Regi Cantorum (To the King of Music), a new sacred music singing chorus led by the talented musical director and University of St. Thomas-Houston Philosophy alumnus Rafael Ramos, B.A. ’23. Accompanying Rafael for an evening “to uplift, touch and transform the soul” will be the 16-member chorus, including his sisters, UST alumna Rosario Ramos, B.A. '21, MLA ’23, and current Celt, Maria Ramos.

Be Uplifted

Rafael invites listeners of all backgrounds to be uplifted by the indescribable beauty of sacred music. Regi Cantorum’s premier performance concert will happen on Friday, June 23, at 7 p.m., in Annunciation Catholic Church, 1618 Texas Avenue, in Houston.

At that time, the chorus will showcase works from the Renaissance as well as other modern compositions. Among the renowned composers represented will be Victoria, Palestrina and Guerrero. Within these melodies is a realm where music and the Divine interweave.

Who should come to the hour-long concert? Rafael recommends the experience for ages 10 and up.

He said, “My sisters and I were in the high school choir, which introduced us to sacred and polyphonic music. However, it wasn’t until three or four years ago, when we joined the schola at our parish, that we really discovered the beauty of Gregorian chant and were exposed to much more sacred music.”

How to Get Tickets

Discounted individual tickets are available online at $15 each before June 20. At the door, tickets will be $20 per person. The online price for a couples ticket is $25.

Mark your calendars for an unforgettable evening on June 23.
