UST Athletic Department Plays to Honor Rising Stars Program

Dean’s List Students to be Recognized on the Court

University of St. Thomas-Houston's Athletic Department will host the first-ever “Rising Stars Game” to recognize the Rising Stars Internship Program. This event will take place at the Men’s and Women’s Basketball games Feb. 4, 2022.

The remarkable program provides first-generation students and other individuals in need with the opportunity to obtain an affordable education through scholarships, financial aid and paid internships. While earning their degrees, these students also gain real-life professional work skills and have access to industry mentors who help them succeed professionally and individually during and after college.

Program Is Ever-Expanding

Rising Stars continues to grow as news of its success spreads. The program currently has more than 100 students and looks to add another 75 by fall 2022.

Dean’s List Rising Stars Recognized

Prior to the start of the Women’s Basketball game, Rising Stars students who earned a spot on the fall 2021 Dean’s List will be recognized. Furthermore, the program itself will receive a gift from UST Athletics, honoring their hard work.

“I am thrilled to have our Rising Stars students who made the UST Dean's List recognized at the Men's Basketball game,” said Director of the Rising Stars Program, Dan Garcia. “Their hard work and perseverance showed that no matter what obstacle they came across, they were going to succeed. I am proud of each and every one of them and what they have accomplished.”
