UST Softball Supports Star of Hope

Amid all the traditional homecoming activities and events, University of St. Thomas-Houston softball will be celebrating a different way. This year they will be giving back to those in need.

UST Softball will be accepting donations for the Star of Hope Houston, a Christ-centered community dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless men, women and children. There are many ways that you can help, which include: new toiletries, personal hygiene products, pull-ups/diapers, new underwear, laundry detergent, non-perishable foods & also monetary donations.

For those interested individuals, donations will be accepted at the UST Softball tent located at the UST Homecoming Tailgate on Saturday, Nov. 12 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Leading the charge for this positive initiative is junior catcher Brenna Ruether. She and her team have been hard at work planning this drive while getting all of athletics involved.

“This donation drive is important to my team and I because we are supporting the women, children and single dads who have been through experiences that most of us cannot even fathom,” Ruether said. “Through our donations, we are sending the message that these are strong and brave individuals who are not defined by their unfortunate circumstances. We would like to thank Star of Hope for all of the charitable work they do.”
