Retired Education Professor Dr. Randy Soffer Collaborates with USTMAX Center

brochure flyerRetired University of St. Thomas Education Professor Dr. Randy Soffer is not resting on his laurels. Instead, he is helping in the Conroe community, where he lives, by teaching valuable Conversational English Classes for Adults.

Soffer is collaborating with USTMAX Center, a University of St. Thomas - Houston micro-campus located in Conroe. He will provide free  conversational English classes using a unique combination of innovative and effective teaching principles and practices.

Sr. Director of USTMAX Center Carla E. Alsandor said, “Dr. Soffer’s desire to serve the community in this way is a perfect fit since part of our strategic plan for the USTMAX Center is to provide ESL classes for the adult community. We are able to offer our first class in the spring semester thanks to his expertise in This course will be fun with an emphasis on the enjoyment of learning. developing the curriculum, along with his leadership and guidance.” 

This course will be fun and bring out the joy of learning. "We will focus on specific conversation English skills that students need for communicating in their daily lives, making the class content very practical as well as engaging and enjoyable," Soffer said. "We will use a lot of games too. We will also make sure that the class content, activities and assessment are geared to specific students' readiness levels, interests and learning."

It is never too late to learn English.

Classes are free and run from Jan. 28 – May 20, 2022*, from 10:30 a.m. – noon at 336 N. Main St. Conroe, TX 77301.  UPDATE: The class is full, and registration is closed.
