"Your Leadership Styles Playbook" was the topic Carla E. Alsandor, Ph.D, presented at a breakout session during The Woodlands Area Business Summit held Nov. 5 in The Woodlands. The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the all-day, action-packed event.

Alsandor is the Senior Director at the USTMAX Center, a micro-campus in downtown Conroe. The Center serves the Montgomery County area.

The inaugural event opened with a keynote speaker and included four breakout sessions with topics related to Marketing, Finance, Human Resources and more; a lunch keynote speaker; and four-panel discussions with dialogues on The Business Lifecycle Employment Law Updates, Human Resources Hot Topics and Maximizing Education Resources.

Alsandor also served on a group panel with representatives from Rice, Sam Houston State University and Lone Star College, discussing how businesses can maximize higher education resources within Montgomery County.

"We welcome opportunities to engage with and learn directly from the business community about ways USTMAX can serve their education and workforce development needs," said Alsandor. "The excellent attendance and positive response to my leadership breakout session is an indication that they also care about strengthening their organizations with enhanced leadership skills.

"Sharing the stage with fellow higher education leaders within Montgomery County was also a valuable experience," Alsandor said. "My fellow panelists and I answered questioned related to trends in higher education, certification and accelerated programs for adult learners, and the importance of teaching cultural intelligence at the undergraduate level to help prepare students for professional success in a global society."
