University of Saint Thomas-Houston was named one of the top 25 Catholic universities in the United States by The Catholic Herald in its US Catholic Universities and Colleges Guide 2023: Top 25. UST joins top-ranking schools such as Ave Maria University, Fordham, Boston College, and the Catholic University of America.

The Catholic Herald ranking for UST notes its impressive ranking in the 2024 WSJ colleges guide; it welcomed its largest-ever incoming class last fall. 

UST President Richard Ludwick told the Herald: “We have been blessed with consecutive years of growth in the recent past and continue to grow and thrive as our emphasis on Catholicity and community increases.” 

The president highlighted the diverse student body, with a baccalaureate Mass in four languages to accommodate the Catholic community.

“Even when people graduate from UST, what sticks with them is the love and acceptance they felt in this Catholic community,” Ludwick said.
