UST Offers Free Fall Tuition for New Associates Degree Students

computer technology studentsUniversity of St. Thomas Houston has developed three new associate degree programs, and is offering the fall semester free for the first 100 students as a part of their response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

University Gives Back with Tuition Free Semester

“We created these fantastic new programs to move students from jobs to careers in fields that are in high demand,” UST President Dr. Richard Ludwick said. “The online programs, offered in Cybersecurity, Networking Technology and Electronic Technology, are completing the accreditation process and have plenty of openings.

“This city has helped support St. Thomas for almost 75 years and at this moment while many are struggling, the University wants to accelerate the way it gives back,” Ludwick said. “This tuition-free semester is one way to help and provide many people in hard hit sectors a chance to reskill in industries that are thriving.”

Dr. Nicole McZeal Walters, Dean of the Associate Degree Programs, is delighted that the University has taken these steps to address the issues of affordability and flexibility in the midst of the pandemic, and explains that the programs offer more than just a degree.

“If you enter our applied associate degree programs, you will have access to high-level industry professionals for possible internship or job shadowing opportunities or participate in a speaker series to get top-level advice,” Walters said. “It is a virtual world, but we want to provide students with ‘extras’ that they might not receive with other programs. You also get a student success coach from the start through matriculation to ensure you do well in the program.”

The 100% online, 60-hour degrees in Cybersecurity, Networking Technology, and Electronic Technology are designed to get students into the workforce earning good money fast.
