UST Offers Qualifying Associate Degree-Seeking and Transfer Students Free Tuition for fall 2023

A new program at the University of St. Thomas-Houston – the St. Thomas Promise – gives incoming high school graduates seeking an associate’s degree from UST’s Kolbe School of Innovation and Professional Studies or incoming transfer students the opportunity for FREE tuition plus free tutorial services.

“Last year, we announced our St. Thomas Promise program, and it has been so successful and a perfect fit to our mission!” Dean of Financial Aid and Scholarships Lynda McKendree said. “We are pleased to announce that we are now including transfer students and our AAS students in the program!”

The St. Thomas Promise allows UST to deliver the same excellent education that UST is recognized for to deserving students to transfer college students who would not otherwise be able to attend a private university. This program is an opportunity at no cost to eligible students that will change their lives and financial situations. It aligns with the University of St. Thomas Catholic mission.

Associates Degree Requirements

  • Incoming high school graduates with a college GPA of 3.4 or higher from families with annual incomes of $50,000 or less may take advantage of this offer.
  • Eligible students must be Texas residents, file the FAFSA form, and qualify for federal and state aid. UST’s FAFSA Code is 003654. This St. Thomas Promise of free tuition also includes free tutorial services for the first year to help ensure a successful transition to finishing a college degree.

Transfer Student Requirements

  • Incoming transfer students with a college GPA of 3.5 or higher who are from families with annual incomes of $50,000 or less may take advantage of this offer.
  • Eligible students must be Texas residents, file the FAFSA form, and qualify for federal and state aid. UST’s FAFSA Code is 003654. This St. Thomas Promise of free tuition also includes free tutorial services for the first year to help ensure a successful transition to finishing a college degree.

McKendree said, “UST has awarded generous scholarships and financial aid packages for years. For many high-achieving, low-income students, their financial aid package still left a small gap for them to pay and deterred them from enrolling at UST. St. Thomas promises to close that small gap and give students a free ride to our wonderful university.”
